MCM flexible stone application case studies showcase before-and-after transformation across commercial interior spaces, curved feature surfaces, retail branding walls and full building exterior facades, demonstrating how thin lightweight stone veneer solves structural, schedule and aesthetic challenges.

Large open-plan hotel lobby renovation
The base structure is an unfinished bare concrete frame, with large circular load-bearing columns running through the full interior space. The design concept required seamless natural stone texture wrapping these curved columns and continuous curved feature walls. Heavy natural stone was ruled out: it would add massive dead load, require structural reinforcement and create segmented, obvious seams on curved surfaces. The construction schedule is tight, and we need to minimize construction tasks that require a significant amount of labor hours.
MCM flexible stone panels were selected for wrapping columns and curved accent walls. For tight-radius curved concrete columns, ultra-thin 2–3mm MCM flexible stone conforms smoothly to curved geometry without cracking.

The raw concrete interior was transformed into a high-end hotel lounge. Continuous stone texture wraps around cylindrical columns, with no fragmented stone segments visible. The lightweight cladding eliminates structural reinforcement cost, while fast overlay installation reduced construction downtime for the hotel.

Boutique hotel private dining suite interior fit-out
The interior design calls for the use of flexible stone with a warm, textured rammed-earth finish on the continuously curved partition walls, creating a seamless effect with a single slab extending from floor to ceiling. Traditional stone tiles cannot be curved to conform to the gentle, curved contours of the walls, while stucco finishes lack the distinctive layered texture found in natural stone.
3-millimeter-thick MCM flexible stone panels with a rammed earth texture were installed on a stable cement substrate using highly flexible Class C2 tile adhesive, in accordance with the indoor adhesive application standards of the YITA MCM Flexible Stone Installation Guide, and secured along the curved edges with pneumatic nails.

This retail fit-out project for Grab Strawberry, a modern dessert shop, required warm, tactile wall finishes to create an earthy, inviting atmosphere for customers. The design concept called for continuous textured wall cladding across the storefront reception counter and full-height dining area walls. The design team sought a material that delivers authentic rammed earth visual texture, while remaining lightweight and easy to install over existing substrates within a tight shop renovation schedule.
The specifier selected rammed earth textured MCM flexible stone veneer for all main feature walls. The lightweight flexible stone panels recreate the stratified tactile aesthetic of rammed earth. Its thin, bendable form allows installers to apply it seamlessly over the interior walls, achieving a continuous unbroken texture across the reception counter backdrop and the full-length dining room wall. Compared to solid rammed earth or heavy natural stone cladding, MCM flexible stone drastically reduces wall load requirements and shortens on-site working hours for this retail project. The finish retains the raw, warm earth tone aesthetic the brand envisioned for its dessert shop customer experience.

The finished Grab Strawberry store interior delivers the organic layered rammed earth aesthetic the design team targeted. The continuous textured MCM flexible stone wall acts as a strong brand backdrop for the retail space, matching the dessert shop’s warm, relaxed customer experience.
Lighting along the wall accentuates the natural texture of the flexible stone, creating an eye-catching interior feature for customer photos and social media. The lightweight cladding met the project’s fast-track construction schedule, and eliminated the structural reinforcement costs required for heavy stone or traditional rammed earth.
For retail architects and shopfitters, this project demonstrates how MCM flexible stone brings premium earth texture to commercial F&B interiors, without the weight, complexity and long lead times of conventional heavy cladding materials.

Xinghai No.1 is a multi-story residential building project located in Hami, Xinjiang. The architectural design adopted classic neoclassical styling, requiring a continuous, premium travertine aesthetic across the entire external facade, including decorative cornices, window surrounds, vertical mouldings and building corner details. The design team selected MCM flexible stone veneer as the exterior cladding material. The material needed to replicate the natural porous texture of travertine stone while coping with the extreme local climate of Hami, featuring large temperature swings, strong ultraviolet radiation and dry windy conditions.
The project team chose travertine-textured MCM flexible stone veneer for the whole building exterior facade. This lightweight flexible stone reproduces the authentic natural pores and tone of travertine. Its thin, bendable properties make it easy to wrap around building corners and follow the complex contours of decorative cornices and window mouldings, delivering a seamless classic stone appearance. Compared with natural stone, MCM flexible stone greatly reduces dead load on the building structure. It is engineered for exterior application, with strong UV resistance and freeze-thaw stability, adapted to Hami’s severe desert climate. The large-format panels also speed up exterior installation and lower safety risks for high-altitude facade construction.

The completed Xinghai No.1 facade achieves the designer’s vision of elegant, neoclassical travertine cladding. The consistent porous texture and pale beige tone of MCM flexible stone run across walls, cornices and corners, presenting a unified premium visual effect under strong sunlight. The lightweight cladding removed the need for extra structural reinforcement required by natural stone, cutting overall project investment. The weather-resistant properties of MCM flexible stone help maintain the facade colour and texture, even under Hami’s strong sun, sand and dramatic temperature shifts. This project proves that MCM flexible stone is a practical alternative to natural travertine for large-scale residential exterior renovation and new-build facade projects, especially in regions with harsh climatic conditions.

MCM flexible stone can be bonded onto cement boards, concrete walls, solid gypsum boards and well-leveled cement mortar substrates. Uneven, loose or greasy surfaces need proper pre-treatment before installation to guarantee long-term adhesion.
No special complicated maintenance is required. The surface is stain-resistant. Daily cleaning only needs a soft cloth and neutral detergent. It is ideal for high footfall commercial spaces including retail, bar and hospitality projects.
Yes. Multiple texture options including rammed earth and vein stone are available. Custom texture selection helps architects and designers realize different aesthetic styles for storefronts, dining spaces and building facades.
The featured projects illustrate how MCM flexible stone veneer balances artistic texture, lightweight safety and flexible installation for diverse commercial scenarios, from retail brand feature walls to restaurant interior and exterior facades. Unlike heavy traditional natural stone, MCM flexible stone reduces structural load limits while retaining authentic stone texture, opening more creative possibilities for commercial designers and building contractors.
Whether you are working on new commercial construction or old building renovation, MCM flexible stone provides a practical decorative cladding solution for interior accent walls, curved structures and exterior facades.
